Travel Tips

If this is your first trip to Sint Maarten, the following tips may be useful in planning your vacation:

Airport:

The Princess Juliana International Airport is 15-minutes away from Simpson Bay Resort & Marina. Taxis are readily available and cost about $15 USD from the airport to the resort.

Languages:

English is spoken everywhere but Dutch is the official language of St Maarten and French in Saint Martin.

Currency:

US dollars are widely accepted. The official currency of Dutch St Maarten is the Netherlands florin or guilder (NAF) and on the French side it is the Euro. Prices are usually listed in dollars and the local currency.

Passport:

U.S. and Canadian citizens will need a valid passport to visit St. Maarten.

Climate:

Sunshine and warm temperatures throughout the year. The trade winds keep temperatures comfortable and the average is 80 F in the winter and 86 F in the summer.

Transportation:

The best way to travel throughout the island is by car. To arrange a vehicle rental you can ask the front desk. Taxi services are also offered.
